I spent no money!  I did not leave the house!  I have figured out how I may have a successful financial life – never, ever leave the house.

deposits: many, many.  I had my paycheck go in, and I had 6 people pay me back for the Caps tickets.  Very exciting day.  Too bad it will be gone very shortly.  That’s how my family does it.

Expenditures: about 40 for gas, which means that $13.00 lasted exactly 2 1/2 days.  That is just straight up sad. Someone needs to de-accelerate my lead foot. What is up with gas being almost 3 dollars a gallon again? I thought we were over that.  I’d buy a Prius, but not only will that cost me money, I may die.  Hand in hand with a lead foot is a strong need for a good braking system – something that is currently suspect in the good ole’ Prius.

Oh, I forgot that I spent $12.37 yesterday on my Kindle for the new JD Robb Eve Dallas book.  They are getting repetitive, but it’s still like visiting with old friends – who have sex a lot – and Roarke is Irish.  Nice.

Deposits: Nothing!  Ahh, the consistency of my life is refreshing.

Expenditures: 11.67 at the Middle Eastern specialty store where they make these wonderful little puff things stuff with meat (I had two – fabulousa).  I also got a falafal sandwich.  I love middle eastern food.  It makes me happy.  I also got a water to hydrate for yoga.  It didn’t work, but I thought I might.  Whenever I go into the store, it’s always filled with men who stare at little European-white me when I walk in.  It’s disconcerting, but also kind of exciting.  Aaaannnnddd. . . I done.

Today was a good day.

9.17 at Bunglow’s because a friend was in town from Germany.

2.00 in tip b/c the server was one of my former studnets.

Good deal.

Money spent today:

.75 for a cupcake and a cookie – donation to the school’s book club.  Worthy cause – especially since it was either eat a cupcake or scream at another child. My hips don’t appreciate it quite as much as my belly.  The cupcake was chocolate – devil’s food with chocolate icing.  Yum. I can still taste it – money well spent.

$13.00 in gas – I had budgeted for $100 in gas this month, and that’s how much I had left.  I literally felt myself driving slower and not punching the gas in order to make this last until Monday.  Sticking to the budget may kill me – I’m used to being an offensive driver, not a defensive one.  Completely different mindset – and I’m not sure if I’m good at it.

5.44 for a Robek’s smoothie before yoga class.  I needed energy because of the sugar crash from the cookie and cupcake.  I got a shot of immunobek as well, so it can probably be considered a health preventative.  Yum again, and the energy boost was fantastic.  Also got a punch on my saver card – 10th one is free, so subtract like $.50 from the cost.

27.31 at Whole Foods.  I see a pattern here.  This included dinner and breakfast for three mornings and lunch for one day.  Not a bad haul, especially at whole foods.  They need a discount for poor teachers trying to save $7000 by December 31.

Money deposited: 0 once again.  Whoo Hoo!

Things I thought about buying but didn’t: my skin care products and going to the grocery store.  I think my priorities are skewed.

Confessions of the Financially Disabled

February 22, 2010

Well, well, well.  I am finally joining the online world.  I figure I’ll keep my identity a secret and see where this goes.  I may run for office one day and would not want this to hamper my campaign.  Although, in the spirit of fairness, most politicians have this problem. The whole purpose of this blog is to publicly confess my addiction to spending money.  This would not be a problem if I was also addicted to making money – but, alas, this is not the case.  I have no idea where my money goes – just that it does go somewhere.  So, in the spirit of AA, I have to confess to all purchases I make.  This shall be interesting.  My goal is to save $7000 by December 31, 2010.  No problem, right?  Ha.

Money Made: 0 (shocking – this is usually the case)

Money Spent: $924.95 on hockey tickets.  All but $84 is returning in the form of payback, so I’m not that worried about it.  It’s for my birthday, so I deserve a little fun.  $84 is fine for birthdays, right?  Right.  No problem with dissonance on this one.  I will be happy this birthday – period.
